As the Chief Product Officer of Bedrocket Media Ventures, I was charged with creating not only a new brand for what was only previously a YouTube channel and turning it into a leading destination for fans of action sports and the lifestyle surrounding action sports, but also a unique platform that would enable us to create beautiful cross-platform products easier than ever before.
Network A was built in parallel with the Boxspring CMS and curation tools that I also created, and it was designed to redefine what a video experience could be like for short-form video content. With a focus on creating a compelling experience for a fan base who cares deeply about both quality of design and genuineness of the experience, I set a high bar – for one thing, the site could not look like any typical site built on WordPress or Drupal. For another thing, we needed to figure out how to make human curation much easier, and core to the experience.
With Network A, I was able to successfully re-imagine how to create templated content experiences that don’t feel like they are the generic sites built on Drupal or WordPress. The adaptive and responsive experience of Network A was nominated for a Webby Award, and has quickly become the leading brand in the action sports vertical, rapidly growing more than 1500%, building a passionate audience of dedicated fans.
